Waaaa Hoo Hey (as the wiggles would say)

Oooh just found out I have a spot at the next Craft 2.0 on 24 October - I am sooooooooo excited but a bit panicky about how much sewing I need to do.

Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeee :-)

Needles & Pins

I bought some new shiny pins the other day at Spotlight, more because they were 20% off than any real want for them. But my gosh why have I struggled with crappy old bent pins for soooo long! It's like a sewing revelation having new pins.

Don't worry, I know it is sad I am so excited about pins. Want to know something even sadder? Like how much of saddo I am I have little competitions with myself when sewing dolls arms up to see if I can magically make the needle come up right where it needs to by some fancy footwork on the pedal - not having to reverse! Tragic.

new owl

I spent Friday night making some little cupcake fridge magnets for this What a Girl Wants fundraiser. Just not sure how well my stuff will go down with ladies on a night out drinking bubbly. Hmmm maybe I should have free mini bottles of liquor on my stall this time as opposed to lollies.

cupcakes

Oh and did I mention I am part of a group organising a craft fair in Ngaio on 21 November? Well I am and we're very excited about having something other than a book sale happen at the town hall.

Right, I have a trillion other things I should be doing...

my beats per minute never been the same

Hmmm I was on a roll there with my blogs but now I have bloggers block. I have been busy making up new dolls, have had 2 orders this week - woo hoo. Pictured are my 2 fave dolls of the day - Susie & Ruby.

I have also made some new brooches/pins whatever you want to call them. They're for the fundraiser I am doing on 12 Sep.

I am also making some more owls - with wings this time, if I can drag myself away from Coronation Street I might sew them up tonight. I multi-tasked last night, cut them all out whilst watching George Michael doco ... poor George.

I went to their final concert at Wembley stadium in the late 80s ... just a kid but so in love with a gay man - who knew. I also remeber my Dad buying me some fingerless gloves with WHAM! emblazoned across the knuckles, I think he got them from Camden Market and carried them all the way back to NZ for me, them and a Cabbage Patch Kid called Olympia.

Another thing on my mind is Wellington and it's craft fairs ... Stichbury starting the one up in Island Bay, which was very successful for me but her next one is supposed to be on 12 Sep which is the same day as The Knack Market and my fundraiser - hmmm what to do, I never was very decisive!

Oooh then there's the CreativeNZ fairs that should be up and running along the waterfront in December ... they sound fantastic.

Hmmm yes indeed :-)

Love Birds

I've had enough of making me dolls and sitting at the machine so last night I decided to handsew some stuff from felt in front of the telly.

Good grief what has happened to Next Top Model, they all look like a bunch of drag queens on there.

Anyways I have made some cute wee birdies - I really like them and think I will adapt for Xmas decos.

Ta da

Ok here is third post of the day.

I have been a sewing since Evo went to bed at 6:15pm (um Ok I had a break to watch a bit of Corrie). It seemed wrong to put Eva to bed at 5pm so we held out playing trains and destroying stuff due to tiredness. This no afternoon sleep is taking a little while to get used to.

Anyways I have made the 2 dolls for Lianne in Petone - one wee girl and one wee boy, they are looking rather cute.

I am now sitting here in my sewing cupboard trying to make a little outfit for Little Jo. I have made a little denim waistcoat and a felt handbag! I will see how I feel about them in the morning.

In the meantime here are a few pics, 'scuse the quality, I have no flash on and a shaky hand.

erm, yes that is the King of Tonga on my cup

aaah she is going to be a hard one to part with...Gary? Can ya hear me Gary? (prizes if you can guess what movie that comes from)

Erm....

I know I like sew free things. I had people asking what I was making for xmas at the fair - um, yeh right like I have thought that far ahead.

But I have found these cute wee things over at whipup.... styrofoam balls, ooooh endless possibilities and so much crap, I mean scrap fabric to use up.

Hmmm shall I write anymore than 3 entries today. Eva is busy watching Spot, it would seem rude not to.

Trip to Spotters

Eva starts at creche on Friday (Woo Hoo) and we are very excited. So excited that we went out this morning to get new sandpit shoes, a new bag and lunchbox....oh that and a trip to Spotlight.

I spent a third of my winnings ... you don't get much for a third.... here is what I got.

I thought I best get me a rotary cutter and mat - so I can cut straight lines.

Right, I have an order to fill - 2 dolls going to a shop in Petone, very exciting stuff.

One Hour Bag

Eva had a sleep yesterday so after perusing the interweb I decided to make me a bag using the one hour bag tutorial. I am not a bag maker but this is SOOOOOOOoooooooo easy and the bags are the perfect size. I made the straps longer on my bag so I can put it across my shoulder - I hate bags sliding down and like to have my hands free.

Here it is - sewing not exactly straight but what the hey.... I wanted to capture it from every angle. Eva thinks I am crazy.

A close up A not so close up

I love this fabric - it is cheap from Spotlight but looks pricey - now who doesn't like that :-)

Craft Village

Well all my sewing paid off - I had such a fantastic day at the new fair in Island Bay, thanks to everyone who made a purchase!

Me looking a bit gormless - (if you click on pics you get bigger version so can see my stuff more clearly.)

I sat next to Bad Animals - she is so lovely and another lovely lady who sells bags with photos on them and another lovely lady who makes beautiful smelling lavendar products!

I felt quite nervous about sitting there all on my own all day but needn't have been, I am starting to feel much more confident in my stuff at fairs and the other crafters are so nice - I can't wait to do another one.

me wares - I had free lollies at the beginning - very very popular and a sneaky trick to get folk to stay round your stall ;-)

I sat up making Babushka brooches on Friday night, I managed 25 of them and they SOLD OUT in the first hour! Hmmm guess what I will be making more of.

I also sold all my owls and elephants that I had left over from The Knack Market - huzzah.

A fabulous day with great people and my husband reckons I made a small fortune.

Woo Hoo watch out Spotlight :-) Ooooh but maybe I will go up in the world and shop at Nancys.
